An Urban Agriculture programme was launched by the City of Cape Town at the Philippi Fresh Produce Market. The City donated a total of R3 million in aid of 30 food gardens in various areas across 24 sub councils.
According to Good Things Guy, this support project was initiated by the City’s Mayoral Urban Renewal Programme with an aim to plant food gardens to feed the unfortunate in vulnerable areas.
A total of 720 farmers will be participating in the project. The main aim of this programme is to assist households with gardens of fruit, vegetables, beans, herbs and spices, including animals and fish.
